Hello, everyone,
Farm progress update is here:
Over the past couple of months, we’ve made some exciting progress on the farm! On August 23, 2025, Duke Energy came out to remove three old electrical poles that were both an eyesore and in the way of construction. They did an amazing job, completing everything in just one day — huge thanks to them! Shortly after, the driveway and greenhouse areas were graded, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. At that time, the greenhouse was scheduled to be finished before the end of September, and anticipation was building every day.

By September 20, 2025, the greenhouse was nearly done, and I could barely contain my excitement. When it was finally completed on October 6, 2025, I couldn’t hold back tears of joy. This greenhouse cost around $50,000, and I plan to add even more inside, which will add to the total cost. I’m fairly certain I grew a few gray hairs along the way! Shortly after completion, we discovered that the foundation wasn’t perfectly leveled both inside and out. While I was ready to leave it as it was, my husband insisted on redoing it. That meant tearing up brand-new black ground cover cloth and ordering another 30 tons of gravel. Moving all that gravel turned out to be far more complicated than we imagined — blisters, sweat-soaked clothes, frustration, and a lot of cursing were all part of the process, but eventually, we got through it.

Finally, on October 13, 2025, we began moving roses into the greenhouse! Over the next few days, I’ll continue transferring them and complete a full inventory count. Once that’s done, I’ll update the website and begin selling them! It’s been a challenging season for the roses on the farm. They were completely neglected, just waiting to be planted in the ground. I relied solely on drip irrigation, only to discover that the filters were clogged. By the time I noticed, many of the leaves were crispy and falling off. Some of the roses didn’t survive, but others are still fighting and even trying to bloom through it all. Roses truly are tougher than my so-called black thumb!

On a brighter note, potted roses are now available for sale, and shipping is scheduled to begin in Spring 2026. I’m beyond excited to share them with all of you and can’t wait to see these beautiful roses find new homes. The farm is slowly coming to life, and every little step forward feels like a significant victory.

To be continued.......
