My Black Thumb Nursery Farm Jornal

3/14/2025 Land Closing date

Hello, everyone, I would like to share:

After a year of searching, visiting over 50 properties, shedding countless tears, and battling frustration and hopelessness, I finally did it—I closed on a piece of agricultural land today! 🌿✨

It’s 11 acres, and I plan to dedicate 3 acres to a nursery for growing roses, a U-pick cutting flower garden, and the rest to an orchard for a U-pick fruit farm. This dream is coming to life, but I won’t lie—I’m incredibly excited and deeply nervous. I’ve poured my entire savings into this, and I know the road ahead will demand even more—financially, physically, and emotionally.

There will be challenges, more tears, and moments of frustration. But there will also be countless beautiful blooms and an unforgettable journey ahead. 🌸🌳

I truly appreciate every single one of you who has supported me through the years—I wouldn’t have made it this far without you. This year will be insanely busy, and I’m ready for it! Let’s grow something amazing together! 💪

4/14/2025 Farm Progress updates

I applied for the well permit—thankfully, that part was simple!

When I got a quote from the well company, I learned that a nursery well needs to be drilled much deeper than a residential one because of the daily water usage. That means the cost is triple what I expected. 😬 Definitely over budget—time to work harder, spend less, and save more!

The land survey was completed today.

I also got a quote for fencing. A fancy fence is out of the question for now, so a chain link fence will have to do. 😂

Next week, I’m heading to Virginia to look at greenhouses. I’m so excited! My goal is to get at least one greenhouse up before fall. Fingers crossed!

I am considering a steel barn for storage, packing, and using it as a front shop.

I will put tables there, we can sit and make a flower arrangement or read a book.
